Starke Ayres: our new client
We’re pleased to extend a warm welcome to Starke Ayres at the Persephone club!
Starke Ayres stands as the largest independent vegetable seed company in South Africa, catering to both commercial and consumer markets. Established in 1877, the company boasts a sales network spanning over 60 countries across five continents. With continuous plans for growth and innovation, Starke Ayres is at the forefront as an African specialist and global provider of premium vegetable, flower, and lawn seed varieties.
The Persephone suite will help Starke Ayres perform research on genes, variants, and comparative genomics faster than ever before; and we hope that the fluid visualization that Persephone provides will enable them to achieve new research insights. Meanwhile, the user feedback will help our team to further improve Persephone’s capabilities.
According to Dr Glendon Ascough, Starke Ayres Research Director: “Persephone will allow deeper understanding of our germplasm at a genomic level and accelerate discovery of new QTLs. Persephone is a unique software that allows us to easily combine publicly available genomes and sequence data with our in-house generated data for greater insights. Trait genetics has become visual and accessible to those without formal bioinformatics training”.
