Attending the Plant and Animal Genome (PAG) meeting in San Diego is always a highlight for us. The audience and the functionality of our tool match very well. Our previous experience working with plant genomes has allowed us to establish strong connections within the community.

As in previous years, we had an exhibit booth and conducted a workshop on Persephone. Scientists showcased their work, demonstrating how Persephone’s features facilitated their research. This year, some presentations were delivered over Zoom or were prerecorded.

Our lineup of speakers included:

  • Felicia Kelso, North Carolina State University (Leveraging Persephone for Genomic Insights into Blueberry Morphogenic Genes)
  • Michael Quade, Cornell University (Visualizing Structural Variation in a Pangenome of Cannabis sativa Using the Persephone Genome Browser)
  • Glendon Ascough, Starke Ayres (Persephone: A Powerful Tool for Understanding Traits in Cucurbita Breeding)
  • Elizaveta Taranenko, University of La Verne (Application of Persephone to Oil Palm Research: Insights from Our Latest Study)

Stas Freidin demonstrated the newest enhancements in Persephone’s functionality. In addition, Max Troukhan presented examples of pangenome visualization at the Coffee Genome workshop.

Many discussions at the conference have focused on pangenomes, and we feel that Persephone fits this topic very well. Our recently introduced features help users navigate and analyze pangenomes in real time. Building and visualizing pangenome graphs is an interesting challenge.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who visited our booth and provided valuable feedback. We look forward to connecting with you again at future events.
